Choosing the right Carrier Oil for you – part 2

CarrierOilsCarrierOils

In my previous post HERE I shared the comedogenic and absorption ratings of many carrier oils. These are important to know if you are at all acne-prone or if you are desiring a specific feel and texture to your serum or homemade product.

Today I want to share with you which carrier oils historically do best with various skin types.

Keep in mind that it is also possible to choose a variety of oils and adjust the ratios as needed. I do this as the weather changes; knowing that my skin will be dryer in the cold winter months I increase moisturizing oils that help hydrate dry skin.

The Best Oils for your Skin Type

Dry Skin-
Sweet Almond Oil
Avocado Oil
Baobab Oil
Cocoa Butter
Shea Butter
Olive Oil
Palm Oil
Rosehip Oil
Sunflower Oil

Oily Skin-
Evening Primrose Oil

Hazelnut Oil **
Hemp Seed Oil
Soybean Oil
Safflower Oil

Combination Skin

Baobab Oil
Hazelnut Oil **

Tamanu Oil

Acne Prone Skin

My favorite place to look for carrier oils is Mountain Rose Herbs. Preferably choose oils that are cold pressed and organic when at all possible.

Italicized words- best oil choice for that skin type

**Astringent Oils- Drying to the skin, causing constriction of the epidermis which can reduce the appearance of pores and loose skin.
